The terms for using Deesis

These terms explain the rules for using Deesis, including the Discipleship Foundations course and certificates. See also our Privacy Policy.

Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or using Deesis (the website, the prayer and Bible-verse features, and the Discipleship Foundations course), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for the activity on your account. Provide accurate profile details, and let us know if you believe your account has been misused. You may stop using Deesis and request deletion of your account at any time.

Acceptable use

Use Deesis respectfully. Do not attempt to disrupt or abuse the service, access other people's data, scrape or bulk-copy content, impersonate others, or use the service for anything unlawful. We may suspend or remove accounts that break these rules.

The discipleship course and certificates

The Discipleship Foundations course is provided free of charge. Completing all parts, passing the final exam, and having your written answers reviewed and approved is required before a certificate is issued. Certificates confirm completion of the course only; they are not an academic qualification, ordination, or professional credential. Certificates are reviewed by a person and may be revoked if the course requirements were not genuinely met, or if they were obtained through dishonesty.

No professional advice

Content on Deesis, including prayers, Bible verses, teaching, and the course material, is offered for general Christian encouragement and education. It is not professional counseling, medical, legal, or financial advice, and it does not replace the guidance of a qualified professional or your local church leadership.

Intellectual property

The Deesis name, logo, course material, and website content are protected. You may read, print, and share the course and certificates for personal, non-commercial use. Please do not republish or resell our content as your own without permission.

Third-party services

Deesis relies on trusted providers for authentication, data storage, email, and payment processing. Your use of the service may also be subject to those providers' terms. Donations may be handled by a third-party payment provider, and we do not store your card details.

Availability and changes

We aim to keep Deesis available, but the service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Features may change, be added, or be removed, and the service may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Deesis is provided without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits rights you may have under applicable South African law, including the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as the service develops. If we make significant changes, we will update this page. Continuing to use Deesis after a change means you accept the updated terms.
